Spaying and neutering are surgeries that are beneficial to your pet’s overall health. They are mostly performed to prevent your pet from giving birth unexpectedly. These procedures are highly common and our veterinarians have years of experience in performing them.
These surgeries remove the reproductive organs of males and females. Neutering is for male pets and it removes the testicles. Spaying rids your female cat or dog of their ovaries and uterus.
Your pet’s safety is paramount to us. We perform a pre-anesthetic blood analysis to see how much anesthesia is safe for them. Our hospital has a state-of-the-art surgical suite where we perform the operation. During the surgery our registered veterinary technologists (RVTs) monitors your pet’s vital signs. We take every precaution to ensure a successful procedure. To aid in recovery, our veterinarians prescribe pain medications to be administered at home by you and your loved ones. If your main goal is to change your pet’s ability to reproduce you should have them spayed or neutered before their first heat cycle. The general recommendation is before 6 months of age. Older pets can also undergo the operation as long as they are good candidates for surgery. Speak with our veterinarians to discuss when you should have your pet spayed or neutered.
